Why this exists
Medical treatment abroad is charged at local rates, in local currency, up front. It is one of the cheapest covers available and one of the most frequently skipped.
What it covers
- Emergency medical treatment and hospital admission abroad
- Medical evacuation and repatriation
- Cancellation and curtailment
- Lost, delayed or damaged baggage
- Personal liability while travelling
What it does not
- Pre-existing conditions not declared before travel
- Countries under an official travel advisory
- High-risk activities unless specifically added
- Claims for theft without a local police report
Exclusions vary between insurers and wordings. These are the ones we see most often — yours should be read individually.
Who it is usually right for
- Anyone travelling abroad, and often a visa requirement
- Frequent travellers, for whom annual multi-trip cover is cheaper
- Businesses sending staff overseas
Terms worth knowing
We do not sell this policy to you.
We compare it across insurers, tell you whether you actually need it, and stand with you if you ever have to claim on it. Start with a conversation, not a quote.
